Knotwork

A selection of my Celtic Knotwork drawings. In 1996 during a trip to Loch Torridon, I found a book called Celtic Art: The Methods Of Construction by George Bain, published by Constable Books.

I was first attracted by his drawings of knotwork designs and the steps required to create them.

Bain was also a teacher and practitioner who challenged the prevailing ideas about Celtic and Pictish art, helping to foster a greater understanding and appreciation of the depth and complexity of ideas and practical skills employed.

I began by working to his instructions and later, to adapt these methods to create my own designs.
